The color of fruits and vegetables mean a lot more than you think. Nature formed a very clever way of highlighting beneficial nutrients in foods through color. For instance, the dark blue color of blueberries is formed by a high content of anthocyanins and phytonutrients. These are powerful nutrients that also improves brain and kidney function. Each food color group has a special power that targets specific areas of the body. When you create a palette of colors on your diner plate, you’re giving your body ample amounts of disease-fighting nutrients.

Red and Purple

Red and purple foods contain lycopene and anthocyanins, which are antioxidants. They help fight heart disease, lower blood sugar and total cholesterol levels, prevent/improve astigmatism, cataracts, and macular degeneration, reduce kidney stone formation, and improve blood circulation.
