MAKING TIME FOR HAPPINESS…

This week we’ve teamed up with Kurvy Inc  to bring you ‘California Love‘, the works of Photographer, Danny Suhendar, connecting the love for West Coast life, culture and interests; according to the bombshell hauties of Kurvy Inc- an underground subculture and movement of plus size women in San Diego that was created to empower plus size women- in leading happy and healthy lives. The subculture of the plus community within San Diego isn’t as developed as it is in other cities, such as New York City or Atlanta. As a result, Kurvy Inc rightfully has their work cut out for them.

For Brandee Joyner, C.E.O. and Founder of Kurvy Inc,  weekdays are always  jam packed with unbelievable deadlines.  As a mother and wife, she looks forward to her weekends with her contagiously confident friends and Kurvy Inc Beauty-Nastacia High. Hang-time with the girls at the beach for a few hours and riding around town in her candy apple painted low-rider are amongst her favorite weekend pleasures. Picking up the girls for a day of fun, never gets boring to her and why should it? Brandee works hard during the week- to play hard on the weekends. Being a full-time entrepreneur, married with children, there is no excuse for Brandee to not reserve time for herself to do things that make her happy. Even the smallest joy of simply riding around San Diego with her girls in her low rider, keeps her happiness flowing. Sometimes it’s the little things that keep your sanity in a world that’s so demanding of your time and energy.

READ ON AS BRANDEE SHARES WHEN SHE REALIZED HER BEAUTY AND WHAT SHE THINKS ABOUT STYLE IN SAN DIEGO…

HOMEBODY OR GIRL ABOUT TOWN
It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to stay home and then there are times when I LOVE to hit the town! My favorite thing to do in my city besides going shopping is to head to the beach!! I love going to either La Jolla or Coronado Beach!CALIFORNIA KURVY INC MANIK MAG SELINA WEEKES

ON BEAUTY
I have been fat, curvy, plus size or whatever you want to call it my whole life and I’m so flawless and fabulous, honey! I first realized my beauty at the age of 17- that’s when it hit me…I was one of a kind. I think it had a lot to do with my mom, she looked at me and randomly said, “Baby you are so beautiful” and something in that moment clicked and she confirmed everything I thought- beautiful.

ON SAN DIEGO STYLE
In San Diego, everyone has their own sense of style and there is no pressure to maintain a certain look but for me I’m always making sure I look my best. My dad raised me to always look my best know no matter what so it’s in me to be on point everyday. No day, is ordinary for me. Plus one of my role models “Kimora Lee-Simmons said it best in her “Fabulosity Book”  “No matter where you’re going also look fabulous because you never know who you might see or meet” That is one thing I live by!

Like the looks worn by the models?…Stay tuned on where to get them from, at the end of our editorial series!

HOW ABOUT THAT LOW RIDER? WHAT DO YOU DO TO KEEP HAPPINESS FLOWING? WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOUR BEAUTY? CAN YOU RELATE TO BRANDEE? LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW!
